The Domain Name System

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a directory for the internet. This directory provides a correspondence between domain names and IP addresses[DEF]. Every domain name (if it is in use) has an associated unique IP address recorded in the DNS. The DNS directory is distributed over certain internet servers called nameservers[DEF]. Given a domain the nameservers can provide its unique IP address. Each IP address specifies the location of a particular server on the internet.

Each of our Servers will have a domain name. If you have purchased a Server but do not yet have a domain name you will want to register one and have us link it with your server.
