The Domain Name System The Domain Name System (DNS) is a directory for the internet. This directory provides a correspondence between domain names and IP addresses[DEF]. Every domain name (if it is in use) has an associated unique IP address recorded in the DNS. The DNS directory is distributed over certain internet servers called nameservers[DEF]. Given a domain the nameservers can provide its unique IP address. Each IP address specifies the location of a particular server on the internet. Each of our Servers will have a domain name. If you have purchased a Server but do not yet have a domain name you will want to register one and have us link it with your server. Check Availability of Your Desired Domain Name Registering New Domain Names If your deisred domain name is not already registered you will want to register it quickly by contacting the appropriate registration authority and completing the required form. See our Domain Name Registration Guide, for the steps to follow. Transferring Existing Domain Names If you have already registered a domain name (which you intend to use with one of our Servers) but it is hosted by another company, you will want to transfer the domain name to your Server. Using our Domain Name Transfer page you will be able to smoothly effect the transfer. Reseller Aids Our resellers are welcome to use CGI scripts we provide in order to give DNS capabilities to their clients. Please see our Sample Whois Template Sample Form Template |
